Whilst vitamins C, E and Beta-Carotene each carries out important antioxidant duties on their own, it is when they are working together in full synergistic harmony that you can really begin to fully appreciate just how effective they are.
Several large scale studies have shown that a combination of reasonable amounts of the three is capable of significantly reducing heart related problems, for example (as explained in more depth in the next section).
Conversely, similar studies have shown that low or significantly reduced levels of these nutrients are clearly associated with an increased risk of mortality from various cancers.
Still other investigators have reported that vitamins C, E and Beta-Carotene are important in the control and regulation of cancer cell differentiation.
These three nutrients, working together, can help fight against this, because all three ‘triad’ members are believed to have powerful cell killing effects on cancerous cells.
Some believe that they may even have the capability of returning some cancer cell types back to being normal cells.
Specifically, extensive research has shown that supplementation with this antioxidant trio can inhibit cancer of the liver and colon, and that overall mortality rates from cancer will fall significantly when these three vitamins are present in sufficient quantities.
That is, in quantities that can only realistically be taken on board every day through supplementation.
